Guide To Challenge 1

A week has past since I set the challenge. After the jump is how me playing as a free-to-play combat level 81 completed the challenge in approx. 3 days with screenshots of most drops. This is not my exact method but very close.


I start by killing some lvl 2 goblins near lumbridge and obtain a sling. I then travel to Port Sarim and Travel to Karumja by boat using some of the coins dropped by the goblins. From there, I run inside the Volcano. This is were you fight Elvarg for the Dragon Slayer quest. Runnung past Elvarg's cave I emerge on theisland Crandor, I descend to the level 43Moss Giants and start killing them with my newly aquired sling. I continue until I have a mithril sword and a black square shield. This is where I start to obtain the first item I need for the challenge. An Amulet of Defence.

Inside the Lumbridge catacombs are many creautures which drop useful items to lower levelled players. In particular use to us are the level 13 corpse archers. These creatures drop 2 useful items on our quest, Holy Symbols and Amulet of Defense. It can take quite a while to get these as drops but is possible shown below.

With a holy symbol to increase prayer duration times I now walk to the monastery to complete the set, This allows the Protect From Melee Prayer to last nearly twice as long, Very useful when obtaining the next item. A Rune Scimitar and Rune Square.

The Lvl 83 Cockroach Soldiers have equal chance of dropping both items and is very close to the monastery. I spent several hours just killing the creatures with a mithril sword using the Protect from Melee Prayer. This was the most time consuming portion of the challenge. Luckily the Rune scimitar dropped before the Rune Sq and suddenly I was able to kill much more efficiently resulting in a quick drop of the shield.

The Mithril Plate is obtained from the lower levelled Cockroach Workers,Level 56. The Armour is a rare drop but the workers are significantly easier to kill then the Soldiers making us one step closer to finishing our challenge.

The final 2 drops come from the second strongest creature in free-to-play runescape. The Level 92 Greater Demon. These are fought inside the wilderness at either level 45 or in the wilderness volcano. The latter is preferred as it is closer to the Chaos Alter so the Protection from Melee method can still be used. Kill these until you get a Rune Full Helm and Adamant Plate Legs.
